Fall marks the start of cold and flu season; education and localized information is critical for vaccine deployment to create stronger, healthier neighborhoods. Our latest Nextdoor trend report explores first-party data to better understand recent vaccine and allergy insights in the neighborhood.

Unsurprisingly, Nextdoor neighbors use the platform to offer and seek information about vaccines. More specifically,  45% of Nextdoor neighbors worry about infectious diseases and viruses (e.g. Flu, Covid, etc.).

When it comes to vaccines, the Covid-19 vaccine is the most mentioned vaccine on Nextdoor, though TDAP and Shingles conversations increased 42% YoY in June. The Flu vaccine is also a popular topic of conversation on the platform, with Neighbors discussing Flu vaccines at higher rates from September through January. In fact, there has been a 3.3x increase in the Flu’s share of vaccine conversation on Nextdoor during Sept ‘22-Jan ’22, compared to the prior 5 months.

Nextdoor neighbors are also no strangers to seasonal allergies, with 29% of Neighbors having experienced seasonal allergies in the past year. Neighbors are 48% more likely to purchase non-prescription medicine to help treat seasonal allergies compared to the general population.

March 2023 had the highest volume of allergy conversations on Nextdoor in the last 18 months, with Benadryl mentioned more than any other allergy brand.
