Nextdoor at Cannes: A Recap of Inspiring Connections and Engaging Sessions

Nextdoor recently returned to the prestigious Cannes, and it proved to be a week filled with productivity, valuable connections, and insightful discussions on the latest trends.

Our team had the pleasure of engaging with clients, participating in thought-provoking sessions, and sharing our expertise through various platforms. Let's take a closer look at the highlights from our time at Cannes. Here's a summary of the sessions where Nextdoor made an impact:

  • The Community Connection: Creating Brand Advocacy Through Consumer Proximity and Authenticity

Nextdoor’s CRO Heidi Andersen joined Greg Manago (Mindshare) and Chris Ariens (Adweek) at Adweek Beach to discuss the power of building genuine relationships and brand advocacy through community. This was an exciting conversation about the power of neighbors and the unique ways in which brands can get involved through meaningful interactions.

  • Live from the GroupM Rooftop at Cannes Lion Festival of Creativity - Day Three

Stephanie Lawrence, Nextdoor’s Head of Agency Partnerships joined Group M’s morning podcast to discuss leaning into your neighbors, the power of recommendations, and how advertisers can activate on the platform. If you would like to hear more, check out the session here.

  • Navigating the Changing Landscape of Social Media: Addressing Polarization and Fostering Positive Engagement Through Community

Renelly Morel, Nextdoor’s Agency Partnerships Lead hosted a roundtable discussion about the current state of social media on how it’s evolved, its impact, and the role agencies and social platforms can play to align brands with bringing people together.

In addition to the speaking sessions, the team also attended panels at Cannes to gain industry insights. AI was the explicit theme of countless panels. The market broadly appears to be targeting two areas of application in the early stages of the technology’s rollout:

  • Creative Development - Platforms, tech vendors, or agencies aiming to use Generative AI to quickly craft thousands of ad iterations for granular personalization.
  • Analysis - Some data focused agencies plan to use GenerativeAI for big data analysis, and “democratizing” actionable insights for media buying teams to unlock increased media performance/effectiveness.

At Nextdoor, we implement AI for a kinder and more engaging community experience. Generative AI has the potential to transform content creation and our new feature will introduce this technology to the neighborhood, and help us foster more productive and engaging conversations – both online and offline.
