H&R Block wanted to raise awareness of its Make Every Block Better community impact platform, which is dedicated to building connections among neighbors and helping small businesses thrive. By gathering neighbors together, H&R Block is helping to foster an environment that builds strong, effective connections that inspire block-by-block change.
For the second year in a row, H&R Block partnered with Nextdoor to promote Make Every Block Better and to help bring community dreams to life. Using localized messaging coupled with engaging creative, H&R Block + Nextdoor reached neighbors in their feeds. Neighbors were directed to a custom site, built by Seven2, where they could submit community project ideas and share stories. In addition to these efforts, Nextdoor created a custom email for neighborhood leads which helped drive even more submissions.
H&R Block + Nextdoor received more than 1,500 submissions from all 50 states. With the help of neighbors, local businesses and the experiential marketing agency Be the Machine, 10 winning projects helped uplift, improve and strengthen neighborhoods in 2021. "The updates provided by the HRB grant have been nothing short of a miracle. The little green space has become the hub of neighborhood activities and meet ups for cleanups...They have really taken advantage of the updates and electric for both Halloween and now Christmas...From the bottom of our hearts, we thank everyone involved in making this happen!...Words cannot express how much this has helped rejuvenate the area."
"I want to sincerely thank you, your team as well as the H&R Block and Nextdoor teams for their generous financial and physical support of the Fort George event...it exceeded our best expectations. Your team was professional, supportive and friendly. We had about 40 volunteers and it was hard to keep them busy because they worked so fast...The food truck was great and everyone really appreciated the coffee, donuts and lunch. Also, really appreciated the cornhole set, it was a nice touch!...we are looking forward to being able to really use this space!"
