With the month of November comes the official kickoff to the busy holiday season. Beyond the hustle and bustle of shopping, cooking, and eating, November also brings opportunities to empower your community on Election Day, spread kindness on #WorldKindessDay, celebrate local businesses like yours on #SmallBusinessSaturday, and cultivate moments of gratitude as we safely celebrate Thanksgiving

This marketing guide is full of ideas on how you can make the most of Nextdoor’s tools for local businesses to stay engaged with the community all month long.

November Local Marketing Guide for Small Businesses

Election Day - November 8, 2022

November 8th is Election Day and you can help get the vote out. Use this opportunity to engage with your community – no mater which side of the aisle they’re on.

  • Using Nextdoor Ads, offer neighbors a free item or discount when they stop by with an “I voted” sticker.

Veterans Day - November 11, 2022

Show your appreciation for our country’s heroes. With Nextdoor Ads, offer the Vets in your neighborhood something special (like a free coffee or discounted meal) to show your support.

World Kindness Day - November 13, 2022

A little act of kindness goes a long way. Use Business Posts to share how you’re spreading kindness across your neighborhood. Some ideas include:

  • Share uplifting messages around your business
  • Offer a small gift with purchase
  • Host a neighborhood activity, like a clean up or donation box, to give back to the community

Thanksgiving - November 24, 2022

While it’s uncertain what the upcoming holiday celebrations will look like for each of us, one thing is for sure, there’s plenty to be thankful for. Use this month to cultivate moments of gratitude in your business and around your community.

  • Use Business Posts to start a “thankful train.” Have the neighbors share what they’re thankful for this year
  • Share a heartfelt thank you message to your local community
  • Partner with other local businesses and organizations to run a food drive
  • Leave handwritten thank you notes on your receipts

Small Business Saturday - November 26, 2022

Small Business Saturday brings amplified attention to local businesses, so make sure your business is part of the action. 88% of Nextdoor neighbors shop at local businesses once a week* and you can expect even more neighbors will be looking for ways to #ShopSmall on Small Business Saturday. Use Nextdoor to:

  • Create a Business Post to let local customers know you’ll be open and broadcast special hours of operation
  • Communicate your plans to allow customers to safely shop or dine at your business using a Business Post
  • With Nextdoor Ads, offer a #SmallBusinessSaturday promotion to members who live in the neighborhood
